A Family Practice

The year 2015 marks the beginning of my 40th year practicing law in the State of California. I graduated from the University of LaVerne and began working for my father Gilbert in his Southern California law firm. Eventually, I took over the practice and Gil actually worked for me and, by that time, my brother Tim had joined us. So collectively, the Davidson’s have 113 years of legal practice experience.

Upon moving to the San Francisco Bay Area several years ago I concentrated the focus of the practice to estate planning and joined the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. During that time, I co-authored the book GENERATIONS which was a collaboration with other members of the National Network. Also during that time I developed a very successful twelve-unit continuing education course for insurance professionals and taught that class to several hundred insurance and financial professionals in Northern California. A natural offshoot of that class was the same estate-planning seminar that I offer throughout the Bay Area today.

The continuing education course and estate planning seminars provided quite a large volume of clients. The law firm known as Davidson & Sheehan expanded to five attorneys, became Davidson, Sheehan & Jewel, and successfully created living trust based estate plans for thousands of Bay Area individuals and families. Due to lifestyle and personal decisions the partners decided to dissolve the relationship and now continue equally successful estate planning practices in different Bay Area locals.

I now have a solo practice with Joelle, my wife of 43 years, and my son Eric. Joelle is the voice of the firm and handles client services, while Eric is our paralegal. Eric is currently in his last year of law school where he is focusing on estate planning and probate law and plans to add many additional years of legal service (and the third generation) to the Davidson family law practice. This arrangement works extremely well and allows us to give our clients unparalleled personalized representation that is often missing in larger firms.

Our main office continues to be in Oakland City Center, with branch offices in San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles.
